Let’s talk about self- acceptance.

Some of us have trouble accepting ourselves exactly as we are. What is self- acceptance? I will define it as an individual’s satisfaction with oneself. That includes body acceptance, self-protection from negative criticism, and believing in your capacities and abilities.

Now, why is it important? If you do not accept yourself for who you are, you are prone to creating problems in your life, like self-esteem issues, lack of self-trust, and even unhappiness . At this point you start living a lie; you tend to be unhappy, you tend to believe in what other people tell you about yourself other than what you think of yourself and who you really are. In other words, you start to seek validation in other to fit in. The truth is we shouldn’t even let it happen. Which is why we have to learn to accept ourselves for who we are and work towards becoming the more fabulous version of ourselves.

Self-acceptance can help to improve self-fulfillment, internal peace with oneself, and genuine happiness. Therefore I encourage you today to embrace yourself, embrace and appreciate what makes you unique. Love yourself, inside and out, flaws included. Take care of yourself. Stick with your identity, and try to stay real, genuine, true and positive with your identity. Accept your behaviour and weakness, however, work on every aspect of yourself that needs to get better. Be open to change. It is a part of positive growth.

Even more, have compassion for yourself – especially when you mess up a situation or make a mistake. Being able to forgive yourself is a big part of self-acceptance. Remember, Self-acceptance is the key to feeling more confident, valuable, acceptable and whole, just as you are. I hope I have been able to speak to someone today. Have a great day.
