“Human beings have the awesome ability to take any experience of their lives and create a meaning that disempowers them or one that can literally save their lives,” said Tony Robbins. Based on this quote, any decision you make is determinant on your values as a person. Therefore, to better understand this, I would start by defining the term values?
I would define it as my principle and standards that guide my judgment and decisions in life? How would you define value or your values?
As an individual, your values are the things that you believe are important in the way you live and work. It is meant to reflect who you are daily and highlight what you stand for as a person. This is because they determine how you define your priorities, as it gives you a better sense of purpose and also shapes your relationships with people.
Your values could be fulfillment, truth, integrity, diligence, inspirations, contributions, health, family, love, success, creativity, consistency, and much more.
Values are meant to express your worth. Think of it as a tree, it is the roots that keep you grounded. In order words, it guides your behavior, by providing you with the personal code of conducts. Knowing your values helps ensure you behave in a way that matches your worth. How will you define self-worth? What is your worth? It is important we critically think about this, this because it helps describe your value or values. This is because your core values should be so integrated with your belief systems and actions.
Similarly, when your values are aligned with your core or worth, it helps you make the right call when it comes to your decision. It helps you develop and define a sense of ‘self” and this could be your confidence level. Even more, your values are meant to define your motivation and your morale.
“What we can or cannot do, what we consider possible or impossible, is rarely a function of our true capability. It is more likely a function of our beliefs and who we are” -Tony Robbins
So, again I ask, what are your values in accordance to your worth?
